Since 1977 the Trust rescued 259 elephants, from which
45 are confirmed dead and the other
214 orphans is either released in the wild, or living in any of the DSWT orphanages.
96 orphans were released to Tsavo National Park, where
93 live as as fully independent wild elephants after rehabilitation in the different orphanages managed by the trust, and
22 females had offspring (wild born in Tsavo National Park):
Eleanor, Mary, Lissa, Malaika, Wendi, Mpenzi, Emily, Edie, Yatta, Nasalot, Mulika, Ndara, Mweya, Galana, Sunyei, Sidai, Lualeni, Lenana, Makena, Chyulu, Mutara, Kilabasi, . So far, 0 orphans has been released in Chyulu Hills National Park where the Trust has secured a safe area.
