Vilja
Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) at
Stuttgart Wilhelma Zoo in Germany

Vilja was born wild 1949.

Vilja was bought for 12.000 German Marks (etwa 6000 Euro) in 1952 by the Stuttgart Zoo.
Her 60th birthday was celebrated in January 2009 with a vegetable and fruit cake. They stated she was the oldest elephant living in Europe.
