Comments / pictures

2000: Sabu tested positive for TB (Tuberculosis) .

2012-01-11: collapsed in his sleeping stall early Wednesday at ARK 2000 in San Andreas.

Society officials said that Sabu died about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the presence of keepers and veterinary staff. They said a Necropsy performed by pathologists from University of California, Davis, found that Sabu died of "severe Arthritis in multiple joints."

The U.S. Department of Agriculture also found that two other elephants that died at PAWS within the past two years also tested positive for TB, according to Necropsy reports. PAWS says the cause of death in both cases was not TB, but Arthritis. Tornto Star, September 24, 2012
