Charles CodyCharles was one of nine children from Woolloomooloo. His brother and nephew, both Dave Cody, also worked at the Zoo. He died middle-aged a day after being accidentally hurt by an Elephant.

A Zoo official said that Nellie fell into the Moat about 3 p.m. She died about two hours later.
Mr. Charles Cody, Nellie's keeper, directed the efforts to save Nellie.
