Today little remembered and totally unknown to younger generations, this Park Zoo was the most famous tourist spot in the North Zone, especially in the 1940s and 1950s.

Open from 1942 to 1975. Mr Agenor Gomes set up his zoo on private land where there was a farm and he personally treated the animals.
It was the second zoo in the city of São Paulo.

Agenor died taking care of the elephant Bruma. Much has already been said about this and some have written about the fact. The elephant Bruma attacked him out of jealousy, but not of a calf, but of a mare that was his companion in the confinement space. After this sad episode Bruma was taken from Água Funda, where she only calmed down with the presence of the mare. There she lived until her death without record of any other accident.

Bruma was born in India and grew up in Egypt where, they say, he was abused by a trainer.

Many residents of Tucuruvi were frequent visitors to the Zoologico do Agenor, which today houses a parking lot called Zoo Park on Rua Imperador, a tribute to what was one of the most important tourist attractions in the North Zone.
