Comments / pictures1974: In 1974, Gary Hill picked out 25 baby African elephants, 6 males and 19 females, for the opening of Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey: 1. Kwanza(who I am sure I changed her name) 2. Angela, 3. Susan, 4. Phrisca became Gloria, 5. Bongo (M), 6. Kenga (M), 7. Mimi, 8. Rosa, 9. Chobe, 10. Dina, 11. Tessa, 12. Tiki, 13. Richard (M), 14. Rip (M), 15. Boss (M), 16. Kandida, 17. Panya, 18. Debbie, 19. BiBi, 20. Dimiti, 21. Fina, 22. Karuma (M), 23. Maria, and 24. Sandra.

Gary already had them named by the time he got back. I don't remember most of them but a few of them I'll never forget. the smallest one was named Boss, he thought he was king of the hill and as gentle as he could be, he loved being petted and was very playful. One a little bigger was Bongo, he was a lot of fun too, he thought he was in charge. He always threw up his Trunk, ears out, and charge towards you for a few Feet. You could find him pretty easily in the pack because when he ate he would hum and pretty loudly. Panya I won't forget about, she was only about 4 Feet tall but very skiddish. Once while cleaning her pen with her still in it I crossed through by the door and she charged and pinned me with her Trunk.
-Donald Bale

4 of them came from Parc Safari Africa in Canada. Tanya, Targa, Lucy and Bertha. I brought the 25 out of Uganda in April of 74.
-Gary Hill

4 females were added from in in Canada- 25. Tanya, 26. Bertha, 27. Targa, 28. Lucy, making a total of 28 at the New Jersey par
