Comments / pictures

Onyx was born in the Assam Valley in northern India. Onyx, Tory and Dutchess, presented by Murray Hill, performed as a three act known as the "Mitie Mites." The combined weight of the Group did not exceed one thousand pounds at one point.

In June 1984, Onyx was transported to the Fort Worth Zoo for several days.

In February 1982, Onyx weighed 7580 pounds.
In April 1983, Onyx measured 10'1" tall at the shoulder, a length of 128 inches, a girth of 183 inches, a Skull width of 33.5 inches, a front foot circumference of 50 inches and back foot circumference of 46 inches.
In May 2002, Onyx weighed 12000 pounds.
