  1. 2012-10-19: elephant keeper Lucy Melo attacked by Pathi Harn. pinned her against a bollard at the same time as making her way out of the stall, after Ms Melo was engaging Pathi Harn in a training session in the barn, realizing a behavioural change in Pathi Harn. Lucy Melo Survived. An ambulance spokeswoman said "She had critical injuries, multiple injuries. The patient was unconscious and had stopped breathing," Melo was brought to Royal North Shore Hospital, she made and was released from hospital after 12 days. Sydney Zoo transferred elephants to Protected Contact


After Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Zoology from the University of Toronto, she then started working at Houston Zoo, Rio Grande Zoo and Disneys Animal Kingdom before starting at Taronga Zoo nine years ago.
