Description

Circus Garcia, circus located at Alameda Nothman 1127 Corij 504, in Sao Paulo (SP), Brazil , was founded in 1928. The last elephant left in 2003.. Circus Garcia closed down in 2003.

Comments / picturesCirco Garcia, the oldest circus in Brazil founded in Campinas in 1928 by Antolim Garcia, son of immigrants from Spain.

1950s: Carola Boets, a Belgian raised in Sweden, came to Brazil with her family in the early 1950s.

1970s: The circus company was among the four largest in the world during the 1970s.

The two elephants were bought during their tour in Thailand.

1987: Antolim Garcia died in 1987, and the circus was taken over by his son and partner, Rolando Garcia.

After Rolando, Carola Boets became director until it closed.

2002: last performance.

2003: Circus went bankrupt, has ceased operations and the elephants were sold.
