While at ETC Way Kambas, Mawar gave birth to a male calf, Anwar. Mawar later sent to Taman Safari Indonesia (TSD) Taru bred the female Mawar in July 1993, which led to the birth of Chyntia in January 1995. Mawar did not accept the calf and was unable to care for the newborn, eventually no longer able to eat and died three days after the birth. The calf was subsequently hand-raised by zoo staff.
