Comments / pictures

The last elephant held in Vila Isabel was a female named Helena. I have no information about her, but she was definitely at this zoo between 1927 and 1936. She was put to work in the 1930s because the zoo needed extra money since it was going bankrupt. She was imported from Hamburg. She did not die in Vila Isabel, she was sold to a circus, with unknown name.
