2018-05-17: A day after the wild elephant calf got separated from its Herd at Chinnakkanal near Munnar, the mother elephant of the calf was found dead at Marappalam near Chinnakkanal on Thursday.

2018-05-18: On Friday evening, the calf was transferred to the Kottoor elephant camp near Thiruvananthapuram.

2018-05-25: Dr. C. S. Jayakumar, forest veterinary surgeon who is currently taking care of the baby elephant, said they had named him as ‘Chinna’ after Chinnakanal.
