2012: After a gap of nearly 15 years, Chaitra from Bandipura elephant camps is being brought to Dasara celebrations this season. Calves of Chaitra: Krishna (2000); Drona (2004); Manikanta (2006); Raja (2008) and Aishwarya (2010) (Source)

2012-09-07: Chaitra, who has a 22-month-old calf in Bandipur, is now being readied. "We'll start the separation next week," Dr DN Nagaraj, the vet attached to Bandipur Tiger Reserve, said. Dr Nagaraj, who has looked after Dasara jumbos for a decade, said the mother takes time to adjust because of intimacy with the calf.

2023-08-26: Meanwhile, elephants Vikrama and Chaitra, usually part of the Jumboo Savari, will not be participating this year. Chaitra, a 50-year-old Kumki elephant from Rampura Elephant Camp in Bandipur, has been confirmed as pregnant through a mandatory Pregnancy test.
