The Strassburger circus family comes from Alsace ,
which belonged to Germany until the Treaty of Versailles (1919).
~1870: Adolf Strassburger Jr. born.
1916 Adolf Strassburger sold his circus to Lorenz Hagenbeck,
who continued it as Cirkus Hagenbeck.
1917: After the First World War ,
Adolf Strassburger started a new circus Strassburger with his brother Leopold Strassburger.
They traveled with the circus from Germany to the Scandinavian countries, to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
1919: Adolf Strassburger Sr.
Adolfs son, Karl Strassburger,
took over the circus and married his cousin, Regina Strassburger,
daughter to Adolfs brother Leopold Strassburger,
and together with Reginas sister Elly Strassburger
and Karls brother Hans Strassburger
they brought the circus into one of the largest in Europe, travelling in two units.
1935: Paula Busch
and Emil Wacker
bought most of Circus Strassburger, from Adolf Strassburger Jr., since the Strassburger fled to Netherlands, during the german Nazi period.
