Franz Althoff Sr., circus director in Germany

Born 1908 in Germany dead 1987 in Germany , son of director Dominik Althoff and animal trainer Adele Althoff .

Franz Althoff ran the famous "Rennbahn-Circus" ("racetrack circus") Circus Franz Althoff.

Franz and his son Harry Althoff (* 1938) were present at the famous accident when the elephant Tuffi fell in the river in Wupperthal in 1950.

His circus and its special construction were immortalized in the 1964 US film Circus World with John Wayne , Claudia Cardinale and Rita Hayworth .
