2016-09-20: A 45-year-old ethnic minority man was killed by his “lovesick” elephant in Mondulkiri province yesterday.

The incident happened near the Bousra Waterfall resort in Pichrda district’s Sre Ampoum commune at about 1pm, according to Captain Sok Sophan, the deputy district police chief.

He said Mim Sreng of the Phnoung ethnic minority, the elephant’s keeper and owner who lived in Pouloung village in Sen Monorom district’s Romnear commune, was killed when the elephant stepped on his chest, stomach and groin.
