Vates Lola Swenson , circus director in United States Born 1896-05-03 in United States dead 1984-09-14 in United States . Vates Lola Swenson Engesser was a Circus entertainer. A vaudeville troupe passing through St. Peter was looking for a new piano player, and someone suggested her husband, George Engesser, who was working at a music store. He got the job and soon had a show of his own, one act was a Swedish Dialect comedy which he performed with his wife. They decided to try the circus business, and they once traded an elephant for a Model T at the local Ford dealership. Their daughter, Baby Vates Engesser, went on to Hollywood and starred in a few movies in the 1920's and 1930's, including a circus-related movie.
