Floyd King , circus director in United States Born ? in United States dead 1976-08-24 . 1945: Floyd King bought the Bud Anderson Circus and much of Clyde Beatty' s truck show. 1946: King took the circus out on tour with the title King Bros. Circus. 1950: In 1950, Norma Davenport, daughter of Ben Davenport the owner of the Dailey Bros. Circus, married Pete Cristiani. As a wedding gift Davenport gave the couple 5 performing elephants. Pete and Norma joined the rest of the Cristiani family who were working with the King Bros. Circus owned by showman Floyd King. The Cristianis then joined forces with King and the "King Bros. and Cristiani Circus was born. 1953: The Cristiani family took their own Cristiani Bros. Circus. Floyd King formed a partnership with Arnold Maley, and reverted to the King Bros Circus. 1955: they enlarged the show to a 70 truck circus. This proved too much to handle and in 56 they divided the show into two smaller shows but both closed early. The title King Bros was later sold to ACME Circus Operating Corporation, and was operated from 1960 as King Bros Circus. 1976: Floyd King died August 24, 1976 at Macon, Georgia, age 88.
