Comments / picturesThe Millennium Elephant Foundation was started in the 1970s as an Club Concept Elephant Bath by Mr Sam Samarasinghe (1939 – 1991), but in 1999 with the assistance of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) transformed the place in to providing a sanctuary and medical services and facilities to ailing elephants.
