Born Georgedda Zellmar Engesser on August 6, 1926. She died on July 15, 2008, aged 81. Her father was operating a motorized circus, Shell Bros.
After divorcing her first husband Billy Powell, she was remarried 1968 to elephant trainer

, and divorced in the mid-1980s.

Ms. Engesser retired to the Tampa, Fla., area and devoted herself to raising money for animal and circus charities. She died July 15 at age 81.
