Sunisa (Avigail, Abigail) was born wild 1987.
The Jerusalem Zoo's Abigail died on Friday, 07/31/2009. She went into labour earlier in the week but the calf died before birth. Some parts of the calf were surgically removed by veterinarians from Jerusalem, Berlin and Rotterdam on 07/28. Sunisa was a small elephant and the calf was very big. After the death of Sunisa no further autopsy has been done. The naturally conceived calf was the first for both parents. Abigail and Michaela both arrived to Israel from Thailand in 09/1997 to join the zoo's three female Asian elephants.
