Comments / pictures

Replaced Rosie between 1939-1940. Still at Chessington in the 1940s-1950s.

Chessington Zoo sold an elephant called Comet to Togni’s. This was a trained elephant that worked with two others in the zoo and also at theatres. I would have to check my notes at home, but I would think this was around 1951. Hanz Brik trained the elephant originally. She was a good worker but dangerous. She appeared for one week with Billy Smart’s new show in 1946 and also at Wilkie’s at New Brighton (can’t remember the date, but I think about 1949).
