The elephant Anura was named after National Heritage Minister Anura Bandaranaike, and donated by Minister Bandaranaiake’s father Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike in 1957 to Japanese Prince Mikasa, the younger brother of Emperor Hirohito.Anura meets Anura in Japan
