The Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wodeyar Bahadur had named him after Indras mount, the legendary white elephant. 1937 with a measured shoulder height at 301 cm and a body weight of 5,000 kg. Cinematographer Mr. Osmond Borradaile who was in Mysore for making the above movie wrote the book Life through a lens, and there is a photograph of Irwatha at page 76 of this book.
