Mary Ann was born wild 1922.

Mary Ann was the first elephant at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. She was purchased for $700 with money collected by school children.

The first elephant at the Baltimore Zoo, Mary Ann, received an official burial in a Maryland graveyard when she died in 1941.
