Panakka was born wild at Sri Lanka unspecified location.

John Hagenbeck bought the elephant in a village close to Kandy. After it was separated from its Mahout the elephant became rogue, and was sold back to the owner. later, after the elephant was sold again, he was shot due to aggressivness.
