Contradictory records:
The Columbus Zoo's official records indicate that Coco was purchased from International Animal Exchange in 1974 and imported by IAE from India.

Columbus Zoo elephant staff found their 40 year old breeding bull Coco lying in his stall early morning on February 16. He died later that afternoon after failed attempts by staff to raise him to his feet. The 106 elephant was survived by his two male offspring Bodhi and Beco, their dam Phoebe and another cow Connie.
