Shankar was born wild at unknown.

1997-11-09: The local zoo had witnessed the arrival of a male elephant Shankar and female elephant Swaraswati from Mysore on August 1, 1996. The couple gave birth to a baby elephant named Laxmi on November 9, 1997. While the male elephant died on August 9, 2000, two female elephants continue to await freedom in the wake of CZAI framing new rules.
