A baby elephant died at Chilla range of Rajaji Park, official sources said in Haridwar on Tuesday.

Forest guards while patrolling on Monday found a female elephant crying. When they went near the animal, they found her calf lying on the ground. By the time the doctors were called, the calf died.

The calf was born just two days ago, they said.

A postmortem of the carcass showed infection in the Lungs was the cause of the death of the elephant.
