Orphaned.

Officials had earlier released it in the nearby forests in a bid to reunite the baby with its Herd. But the calf swiftly came back to its ‘friends’ in Madpuri.

Currently kept in the Sahuwala forest range, the elephant is likely to be shifted to the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve soon, where forest officials will take care of it.
