Biography

Mala is a living Female ♀ Asian elephant (Elephas maximus) , located at the Patna Zoo, in India.

Mala arrived in 1978-00-00 to the Patna Zoo, relocated from the Sonepur Fair, in India.

In Patna Zoo, Mala lives as single living elephant at this location

Mala was born wild ~1962.

2018-04-10: The state government had bought the now 40 years old female elephant from Sonepur fair in 1978 and Mala has been a dear member of the zoo family since then.

Patna zoo director S Chandrashekhar said, "We are planning to send Mala to Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran. She will be kept in Madanpur forest range with a couple of other elephants already there."
