Prehistoric time


Datings indicate that there were large ice-free areas in Fennoscandia prior to the last glacial maximum c. 18,000 yBP. A number of Woolly Mammoths has been excavated from this time. The datings also indicate a very fast growth of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet to its maximum position.

Elephants on circus were prohobited 1986 in Finland, and the last elephant in a Zoo in Finland, Vanni, was sold from Circus Finlandia to the Zoo Zoolandia
in Lieto, and left Finland in 2005, to Nikolaev Zoo, where she died after nine months..
