Thaddeus Crane Sr. was a prominent citizen of North Salem who served as a Revolutionary militia officer, a New York State assemblyman and a representative to the state convention that voted to ratify the U.S. Constitution. 1775 - listed as Capt. Crane, he commanded a company of the 3rd Regiment of the Westchester County New York militia. April 27, 1777 - shot in the hip at the Battle of Ridgefield on an expedition to Danbury Conn. May 28, 1778 - he was 2nd Major of the 2nd Regiment of the Westchester County Militia. He also had been a Captain in the North Salem, New York militia company. February 17, 1780 - he was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, 4th Regiment, Westchester County Militia. He is buried at June Cemetery, North Salem, Westchester, New York
