Night Safari is the self-proclaimed world’s first wildlife park for nocturnal animals.
The male calf born at the Singapore Night Safari in November 2010 was the fifth elephant born at the location, though the first in nine years to the herd of Asian elephants. The 151 kilogram newborn was the third for twenty five year old Nandong. He was sired by Chawang, the only bull elephant residing at the Singapore Night Safari or Singapore Zoo. The birth brought the total number of Asian elephants at Wildlife Reserves Singapore (WRS), parent company of Jurong Bird Park, Night Safari, Singapore Zoo and the upcoming River Safari, to 11.
