Comments / pictures1955-03-02: Zoo director Arduino Terni is preparing some big surprises for the Turin zoo. In a very short time he will go to Burma to join his eighteen-year-old son Sandro, who has also gone elephant Hunting. In addition to the large pachyderms, Malaysian tigers, bears and snakes with long striped backs will arrive on the banks of the Po from the East.

1955-10-20: The Species represented are numerous, but there are no reptiles and pachyderms that could be hosted by the zoo when the financial possibilities (the work has cost 80 million so far) allow the second part of the project to be carried out, which includes the house for the pachyderms. A surprise will be in store for the children who impatiently await the opening of the garden: they will have to respond to a referendum to name the only elephant in the zoo that arrived at the Michelotti yesterday morning from Burma.where he remained all night. The next morning, when the firefighters in boats tried to get close to him, he managed to get away again. Later he was caught up and captured; but his wing had been hit by a volley of pellets apparently thrown at him by an unscrupulous hunter.

1956-08-07: The elephant Sabè escapes to destroy an ostrich. The pachyderm, made furious by the pecks of its captive neighbour, breaks down a wall to take revenge on him, grabs the bird with its Trunk and throws it away.
