Description

Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), located at 114 35 Simmerhorn Road, east of Highway 99, in Galt, United States , was founded in 1984 and the first elephant arrived in 1986. The last elephant left in 2004.


Comments / picturesFounded by Pat Derby and Ed Stewart in 1984, the 30 acre Galt facility housed Asian and African elephants, lions, bears, wolves, tigers, leopards. Eventually, all the surviving elephants were transferred to a new 2300 acre compound near San Andreas known as ARK 2000.
