Comments / picturesKazan (/kəˈzæn, -ˈzɑːn/; Tatar: Казан; Russian: Каза́нь, is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan in Russia. The city lies at the confluence of the Volga and the Kazanka rivers.

1890: The first permanent circus in Kazan was built in 1890 as a wooden circus on Bathing lake by the founders of the Russian national circus brothers Nikitin.

1924: the Kazan circus got the status of state circus.

1928: A new wooden circus building was erected.
