2007: Haryana forests minister Kiran Chaudhry on Friday 28th of December laid the foundation stone for an elephant rescue centre (ERC), first of its kind in India, at Bansantour forest. The ERC will provide shelter to sick, injured and such elephants which are being kept without ownership certificates. The government plans to keep 20 elephants. Initially, five elephant sheds would be constructed and two elephants would be kept in each shed. Later, more sheds would be built for the rest 10 elephants.

2019: At present, this center is taking care of five elephants including Lakshmi.
