The park has the largest population of Elephants in Uttarakhand.

2007: Ten elephants from various elephant camps in Kodagu are all set to travel to the jungles in Uttarakhand, to be resettled in the jungles there. Among the elephants are Madakari (10), Gajaraja (10), Kenchamba (20) of Doddaharve Elephant camp, female elephants like Shivagange (25) and Kapila (32).
