Comments / picturesCharles Mayer (1862-1927) was an animal trapper and dealer.

In his book "Trapping Wild Animals in Malay Jungles", Charles Mayer describes how he cought 60 wild elephants in Malaysia.

One of them, having 20 nails instead of 18, is specifically sold to an arab, who sell the elephant for 10 000 Rupees to the Maharaja of Mysore. A rest of the last 15 elephants were shipped to Madras with unknown future destination.
