In 1929, the new San Francisco Zoo received their first three elephants from Golden Gate Park - Babe, Marguerite and Virginia. All had been imported by Frank Buck, were sold together to Golden Gate Park in June 1926 and three years later transferred to the San Francisco Zoo.
