Contradictory records:
SSP state birth year 1952, but "A Lulu and Her Companion" states she was 3 years old upon arrival in Buffalo in 1953.

In November 1995, Lulu was euthanized via lethal injection after the zoo veterinarian warned she would not survive the operation to remove an absessed tooth. An operation had been performed earlier in April to clean the infection, but it returned several weeks prior to her death.
